The best way to replace a timing belt

A broken timing belt can be catastrophic for an engine. Wearing the belt can lower gas mileage and reduce the power of the engine. You should replace the belt at least every 60,000 miles. Replacing the belt can be a difficult job, but if you have the know-how and some time, you should be able to do it.

After running your car for the first time, wait until your engine has cooled off. You may want to wait at least a day.

The next step is to disconnect the negative battery cable. After doing this, make sure any obstructions to the timing belt cover are removed. It can take a while to do this and may include the air intake assembly, water pump pulley, etc. The things that may interfere with each car are different.

To determine if your car has a distributor cap, you may want to refer to a repair manual for its particular model. If it doesn't, it should tell you what to do from there. This may be as simple as making sure the cam position sensor is set to TDC. Otherwise, just remove the distributor cap.

Turn the engine on until the timing mark on the pulley matches the "0" mark on the timing scale using a wrench on the crankshaft bolt. Remove the timing belt cover. Check the tensioner bearings and replace them if they are loose. Move the tensioner away from the belt so that you can remove the timing belt. Once that is done, install the new belt and adjust its tension as necessary. Check that it fits over the teeth of the timing sprockets, but don't tighten it too much.

Next, you will need to replace the timing belt cover gasket, reinstall all of the items you previously disconnected, reconnect the battery, and start the engine to see how it runs. If the belt knocks, you may have missed something. If it doesn't, you have succeeded in changing it.

Y-1200

Y-1200-16 (1200-S8M-16) are potential replacement belts for Y-1200. Timing Belts have arrow-shaped helical offset tooth profile. Belts consist of two components, including polyurethane body and tensile cord (Steel, Kevlar). Polyurethane body is extremely wear and fatigue resistant and highly flexible. Tensile Cords give high flexibility, accuracy and long service life. So bonding of both materials provides high power transmission performance.
